Laurie Line, Senior Licensing Consultant

In high school, Laurie discovered graphic design and the potential to channel her creative abilities into large-scale marketing endeavors, diverging from the traditional path of a fine artist. This revelation inspired her to pursue a degree in Advertising Design at the Columbus College of Art and Design, where she developed a deep affection for typographic illustration.

In the 1980s, Laurie's affinity for type and advertising design formed a perfect union with the introduction of the Macintosh. As she honed her design skills, she discovered a remarkable talent for quickly grasping new computer software and technology.

By the late 1990s, Laurie secured a position at Gerbig, Snell/Weisheimer & Associates (now GSW Worldwide), where she spearheaded the development of their prepress process and educated designers on various creative software applications. Her responsibilities expanded to include organizing the company's fonts and delving into the intricacies of font licensing, inadvertently earning her the title of Font Diva!

Over the ensuing 26 years, Laurie witnessed significant transformations in marketing technology, and font licensing evolved alongside it. Adapting to these changes, she became adept at navigating the nuances of emerging font license types. Laurie excelled in auditing font licenses amidst numerous mergers and acquisitions, managing multiple font server platforms, and overseeing font licenses for over 600 users spanning six countries.

In 2018, Laurie crossed paths with Greg Mitchell on LinkedIn, igniting a series of invigorating discussions surrounding the dynamic landscape of font licensing. Their collaborative synergy culminated in them joining forces in 2023, combining their unprecedented wealth of knowledge in fonts – encompassing complexities in licensing, management processes and the application of server technologies.
